wierd, not sure if its due to me being in beta or something they messed up in the release when running on Vista, but I just installed WAR from retail DVDs and stuffed if I can work out how to start it!

The only likely exe in the warhammer directory is warpatch.exe, and it terminates straight away on startup.  Do other people have another .exe ?   what does the shortcut point to?

patch.cfg  has entries for Warhammer Beta, which is odd.  I totally deleted the beta client before install, and its actually a different directory.   anyone able to paste their copt of patch.cfg?

and last up, patch_user.xml is only one line, but I think that may get created if the patcher gets fixed.

and as an aside, the EA/Mythic web site for support is woeful.

Hi Mate, I got this email earlier

We have identified an issue with the Warhammer Online Standard Editions in AU and NZ. Some of you have mentioned that after installing the game, there is no icon on your desktop (the shortcut would look like a small black window).

Please be aware that we are aware of the problem and have investigated the cause of it. There was a dvd duplication error and as a result, the exe file is corrupted. This issue only affects Warhammer Standard Editions in AU and NZ. Collector Editions are not affected. Read on for instructions on how to resolve this issue.

A new file is available for download from here. Alternatively, we have also set up a patch download page

Instructions for installing the patch:

· Download the patch.
· Move or save the program file into the folder where you had saved the install.
· Click on the patch.
· Enter your game account login and password.
· Check the "Perform Full File Check" box.
· Run download (click OK)
· When all patching has finished, click play.

Actually its been the smoothest mmo launch Ive ever seen, more servers coming up, server cloning to alleviate queues etc. I think Mythics done a decent job so far.

seems pretty smooth so far, they used the server load queue system to push people around ( so queue was set to 1/3 of load for day 1 for example). 

since MMO launces are pretty unique in that you get a large, somewhat unpredictable load at launch, and that load is all concentrated in the starter area.  (which is why preorders and collector editions tend to get on early, it's about load managment)

first level 40 already :)

though I understand the real progression in the RR ranks.

Hey Wlit, i am on Anlec as well, am Order and guilded with The Elite.
   Yeah, as Fen says, there is a handful of SA on Ironclaw, my son plays on Ironclaw as well, he is Order as well, so not with SA whom are Destruction.
